Who are OZEV?

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) have been appointed by the UK Government to manage and distribute Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) funding for electric car charge points.

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

The Government are incentivising eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations to provide workplace electric car charging facilities for the staff and fleets.

In return for the WCS grant funding, OZEV require monthly data reports on each EV charging point’s usage across the country for the next 3 years, enabling them to better understand the current levels of EV usage.

SME businesses can claim up to £75,000 towards the cost of your EV charging points under the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS), and larger businesses are entitled to £14,000 funding.

Companies can purchase up to 40 EV charging points at a subsidised cost, with each charging unit having as much as £350 price reduction per socket.

How to apply and claim a Workplace Charging Scheme grant

Being approved by OZEV, Electric Car Chargers UK (ECC UK) help make the WCS application process very easy. There are options for businesses to apply for the funding, however we recommend you follow the below steps:

It is important for businesses to be aware that OZEV WCS grant funding is not subject to VAT. The WCS voucher is a discount off the total value of your invoice (gross of VAT) and you reclaim VAT for total value of the original invoice. Make sure your OZEV installer presents you with a correct quotation and invoice that represents the VAT correctly.
