The government has confirmed this is the final year of the Workplace Charging Scheme. It closes at 11:59pm on 31 March 2027 and no replacement has been announced. If you want grant funding towards chargers for your staff or fleet, now is the time to act.
What the grant covers
- Up to £500 per socket, covering up to 75% of the cost of buying and installing chargers
- Up to 40 sockets across all your sites, so up to £20,000 in total
- State funded schools and colleges: up to £2,000 per socket
- Open to businesses, charities, public sector organisations and small accommodation businesses in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
Why you shouldn’t wait until March
Every voucher is valid for 180 days. The chargers must be installed and the grant claimed within that window, and the scheme itself closes on 31 March 2027. Surveys, voucher approval, equipment lead times and any supply upgrades all take time. We recommend booking your survey by the end of January at the latest.
How it works with ECC UK
- Free site survey. We assess your car park, power supply and charger options.
- You apply for the voucher. It takes a few minutes online and we guide you through it. Vouchers usually arrive within 5 working days.
- We install. Our OZEV authorised team fits and commissions your chargers.
- We claim the grant. The grant comes off your invoice, so you only pay the balance.
Who qualifies
- You have dedicated off-street parking for staff or fleet vehicles
- You own the site or have the landlord’s permission
- The site hasn’t claimed under the scheme before
- Installation isn’t already required by Part S building regulations or a planning condition
What happens after 31 March 2027?
Once the scheme closes, workplace chargers will be full price. We’ll keep installing and maintaining chargers for businesses, fleets and the public sector, but the grant won’t be there to reduce the cost. If chargers are on your plan for the next few years, this is the cheapest time to do it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I still apply in March 2027?
Applications are open until 31 March 2027, but the install and claim must fit inside the scheme dates. Leaving it to March risks missing out.
Will there be a replacement scheme?
None has been announced. The government has described 2026/27 as the final year.
How much will I actually pay?
The grant covers up to 75% of costs, capped at £500 per socket. Most workplace installs still carry a balance; your survey quote will show the exact figure.
Do you cover my area?
Yes. We install nationwide from our London and Wolverhampton offices and depots.
